That's all it took for my faith-filled quest to not only come to a halt but turn and run in the other direction.
The reason for this? Ayn Rand, of course. Well, that and my inability to refrain from reading things that I KNOW will cause problems and raise questions.
If you're interested, below is a link, a compilation of clips from three interviews with Rand. There's a Youtube video in the top left corner, and you can read the transcript while following along.

I can't question reason. While I don't agree that acting on emotions is the same as faith, all of the rest is spot on.
Why I torture my brain with philosophy I will never know.
I never really thought about this basic logic in reference to god: non-existence doesn't require evidence, only proof of existence does. I mean, we test millions of chemical reactions to see which drug will cure this disease, and out of all these possibilities we hope to prove one to exist. And then its existence is accepted as knowledge/truth and therefore now exists. We don't argue over not having proof that a cure for cancer DOESN'T exist. Without our knowledge of its proof, the matter of existence is irrelevant until that evidence comes to be. And I am not an atheist, but I am certainly compelled by the question as to why the existence of God, the creator of the universe--that universe which we can only observe and study and interact with through science and its reason--shouldn't be subject to scientific, logical reasoning and scrutiny as well.
